Bio:

Emily Zhang is a Cleveland-based versatile illustrator that specializes in product and packaging illustration and art for print. She loves drawing cute anthropomorphic animals and uses styles such as textured graphics and loose watercolor paintings, such as line and wash techniques. She favors slice of life stories and fantasy elements in her storytelling, especially pertaining to mental health and the complexities of relationships.

She specializes in a combination of illustration and graphic design. Her favorite fields in illustration include product and package design, surface design (especially with watercolor florals), and comics and illustration for print. Her style varies but is versatile and adaptable for different applications and often leans simple and cute. In her print and comic work, she often utilizes a loose watercolor line and wash style and mixed traditional and digital media, while her design applications use a textured graphical style.

Her favorite things to draw are cute anthropomorphic animals and slice of life stories. In 2023, her BFA combined both her slice of life storytelling and her passion for graphic design in the form of a graphic memoir and an app design with a cute animal as its mascot. Outside of industry studio work she writes bittersweet and thought-provoking graphic novels, whether they are memoir or fictional in nature. She also creates artwork for her own products such as keychains, charms, washi tape, and buttons, and soon expanding to other stationary like notebooks and sticky notepads. She also makes crochet amigurumi crafts for her personal business as well.
