My home is nestled in a clearing surrounded by 100 ft pine and oak trees. This illustration is a glimpse at a moment that I have had the fortune of enjoying many times while sitting on the swing with my 6 year old daughter. As dusk approaches and the sun begins to set, it illuminates the tops of the trees on the north side of our property and makes them look like they are glowing. The colors of the sky turn to soft peaches, grays and dusty lavender. The birds and the squirrels are scattering to get their last meal before heading to their nests for the night. I relish this time of day watching the last pieces of the sunlight hit the treetops. The overlapping shapes and textures of the leaves and branches and how the sunlight creates an ombre through the foliage. I'm interested in subtlety and serenity in my work and the idea of relishing a moment. I feel as if this moment, where the treetops and sky meet as the day fades to night, shares some of the same qualities that I often explore in my own work.

I love how you captured the movement of the sun! Beautiful.
