The Great Outdoors

I've had the privilege of visiting Yosemite National Park in California twice. It remains to be one of my favourite places, not only for its natural beauty but also the profound effect that standing beneath Half Dome and ancient sequoia trees has had on me as a person. I am unable to shake the overwhelming feeling of being very small in a vast universe. The mix of towering peaks, deep valleys, beautiful meadows, waterfalls and diverse wildlife combined with the textures and colours of the changing seasons, is similar to my own creative personality. It expresses the way that I also often change my visual style, whether to meet a project brief, or simply due to my creative energy, as well as combining influences from a wide variation of sources, old and new.

I have tried to capture the beauty of Yosemite in a gouache painting, including colours that I love and best represent my creativity.
