Chatsworth House and Gardens has many visitors from all over the country, but it also has a beautiful estate where there are many areas to walk. One of my favourite walks is along the river to Beeley village, you walk across two beautiful old bridges and then a climb up to the hilltop. From the Emperor Waterfall and the Hunting Tower you can enjoy fantastic views right across the Estate.
I am very lucky to live in Bexley, one of the greenest boroughs of London. Throughout lockdown I have gone on (almost) daily walks in many of these green spaces and I always see things in the sky that inspire me. My map pays homage to everything I have seen in the skies whilst out on my walks. I've have also included the distance each object is from earth to give it some perspective.
This map shows me and my dog's two favourite routes in my neighbourhood. We like to go up to the park on the hill where we can enjoy the whole city view. Our second favourite route is to a little creek where we can meet a lot of other dogs.
This map shows a typical urban hike I might take from my apartment on the island of Södermalm in Stockholm, Sweden. I start with the overlook at Monteliusvägen, continue through Mariatorget, the square in my neighborhood, then I continue over to the lookout from Skinnarviks park, where you can see Stadshuset (city hall) and the apartments along Norr Mälarstrand. From there, I head to the allotment gardens located in Tanto park, then a stop by Fabrique bakery where I might pick up a tasty cinnamon bun or fresh loaf of levain bread for an afternoon fika (coffee break). On my way back to my apartment, if it is the weekend, a stop by Röde Orm to pick up a pizza dough for homemade pizza is a must!
Right now all museums are closed due to national lockdown, but you can still admire their architecture from the outside and all the museums included in the map offer a virtual tour online!
This is a map of my favourite place to walk in Victoria, BC where I am originally from but I have been missing lately! I would walk my dog along Dallas Road, with beautiful views of the ocean and go down the steps to the beach. Sometimes I would explore the nearby Beacon Hill Park with so many fantastic things inside - including a petting farm which I have taken my daughter to once as a baby. There are so many memories here and I can't wait to visit again soon.
Discovery Gardens is a sprawling residential community inspired by garden living. Though it's located at one end of Dubai, I love living in this community as it is surrounded by lush green landscapes and it is great for long walks. There are so many birds and flora that it does not feel like a part of Dubai. During the Lockdown, I walked a lot in the mornings around this community.
I'd love to share with you one of my family's favorite walk route! Explore so many amazing spots along the Embarcadero. There are popular tourists locations such as Pier 39 and Boudin bakery and also hidden gems inside the Ferry Building. Enjoy your day exploring all of them!
One of my favorite walks in any season is through the historic village of Kinderhook in upstate New York. The village was home to the 8th president of the US, Martin Van Buren, and today has a great mixture of history, agriculture and art. The center of the village is very pedestrian friendly with sidewalks and a bike/walk trail that takes you on a quiet stroll past orchards & farms.
Southwest desert hiking trail featuring common wildlife and plants. This is a local favorite - the bottom of the trail has a lot of people but as you climb higher you get the fantastic views all to yourself. It is state trust land and it is filled with creatures, if you are lucky enough to see them.
I walk 10,000 steps almost every day in the Cooper River Park. For years, I have seen rabbits, squirrels, Canadian geese, ducks, turtles, racoons, cardinals and blue jays, seagulls, groundhogs, and even a fox and a deer, among other animals. I want to show how lucky I feel to be able to walk among such amazing company.
