From breathtaking Unesco’s World Heritage sites to its astonishing beaches, authentic food, culture, outdoor film festivals, colorful fares, and diverse towns. In this map, I hope to portray some experiences from our 2019 summer trip, including some of the many fun and charismatic friends we made along the way. A “bellissima” experience!
Singing with my husband , baking and painting are part of my relaxing moments. But some are very stressful, like when the grocery box is delivered at my doorstep. Video calls with friends and family are very helpful. I have a call with my Mom every day, She is alone at home so is the way we can stay close! But we can't forget that at 7 pm is time to clap at our balconies and be grateful for the hard work of the Front-line care workers. At the end of the day Netflix is our best friend. I am glad to be safe and healthy until now! I forgot to draw about my online Yoga class. I'm trying to do at least twice a week!! I can't promisse more! I have lots of things to do at Home!
My entry for Mapping this Moment—a little comic documenting these strange times.
Here is my take on the last three months spent at home with my 3 year old twins. Initially I was on a rollercoaster of emotions and worry about the virus. Meanwhile the children were too young to fully understand and think we just stay at home and hang out in the garden and that’s life now. There was always great excitement whenever they spotted a plane ( which was few and far between these days). They are convinced their cousin from Melbourne is on the plane enroute to play with them. Oh to be young again!
The whole experience feels to me like a movie where we broke off into an alternative universe on fragmented floating islands as the world we once knew has faded away. I added A few words and images to remember this moment.
To map the lockdown moments of the last 2 months, I decided to draw and map the different monsters who I have gotten to know who live in the different spaces of my house ( I think the Toy Monster was my favourite!). Outside our safe area, filled with our pets I have created a maze, marking out our go-to neighbourhood spots that we can no longer visit these days.
