This was a once in a lifetime trip that I have been planning for years. My husband and I traveled from Minnesota, USA to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and then to the North Island of New Zealand. These were some of the highlights from the trip.
This is a map of some of the buildings that house bee hives on their roof tops. There are many more and bees are thriving in cities around the world. Many restaurants in cities are now making rooftop gardens and creating safe feeding stations for bees and insects, creating bee hotels and placing hives to use their own honey.
This is a map of our local music festival. It takes place every year in mid July and is located on the Gurten, our local mountain. You get to the festival by taking a small rack railway or by hiking the 3.6 km and 300 altitude difference.
This map is a sample taken from the 380cm x 210cm panel, which I made for the Banca da Conceição. This place is a small and lovely store that sells books and local artists' works. It is located in the superquadra 308 Sul, which is considered a model city quarter in Brasília, with an urbanistic project by the architect Lúcio Costa and landscaping by Burle Marx. Also included in the project are the church of Nossa Senhora de Fátima, better known by the brasilienses as Igrejinha, which was designed by the architect Oscar Niemeyer and has the external walls covered with tiles by the artist Athos Bulcão.
So if you go to Brasilia and want to know a little more about the history and architecture of the city, do not forget to visit the igrejinha, the 308 sul and the Banca da Conceição!
I love this fictional town, “where everybody fits in”! As a Canadian I’m so proud of this gem. I live in a small rural town, but not as fun filled or interesting as these characters & this town! If you watch it, you’ll get this map, as I only had room to add icons from a few of my favourite episodes. There’s no real direction or compass “rose” pun intended, but just wandering through this town would prove interesting! Digitally illustrated with love! and watch out for the poison oak!
I grew up around the city of Philadelphia, and I have really fond childhood memories of going into the city with friends and going on a "Cheesesteak Pilgrimage" as we fondly called it, where one of our moms drove us to all the well known cheesesteaks places so that we could rank our favorites. I illustrated a map of all the places that we went to, so that others would be able to enjoy the pilgrimage as well. :)
I have been moving around all my life, but this lovely place has stuck with me with more way than I can say. The majesty and overall power The Columbia River Gorge radiates is something anyone can see.
