Ahmedabad, in western India, is the largest city in the heart of Gujarat State. The Sabarmati River runs through its center. The city was named after Mughal king Ahmedshah in 16th Century and has got rich architectural history from different time periods.
This charismatic UNESCO World Heritage Site, even in its ruined state, is really a sight to see. Packed with beautiful temples, ruins of palaces, aquatic structures, market streets, royal pavilions, Hampi is truly a backpacker's delight!
I am a huge Jane Austen fan, although this is possibly my favourite novel by her. Reading it as a impressionable teenager I imagined where in Hertfordshire some of the major events took place - since I really do live in that county! The map contains most of the main locations with brief explanations.
