Welcome to my neighbourhood! The South part of Amsterdam is known for its 1930's Architecture called the Amsterdam School. I feel so lucky to live in this beautiful area, I love to walk or bike around to discovering new details every time. This neighbourhood is very lively, with the Architecture Museum, the Art House Cinema and lots of cute Café's. Every other year this area hosts the International Sculpture Biennial with larger then life sculptures decorating the streets. I hope you enjoy this walk as much as i do, have fun!

This place is special to me because it describes my journey of relocating to a new city after living in my home country for 27 long years. The initial challenges and explorations are what this illustrated map is all about!
I and my partner [whom I call "Bunny" and is depicted as one here ;)] arrived in Melbourne in mid-year 2019. Melbourne being voted as one of the best cities to live in the world, we were very excited to discover the new city and somehow we managed to have a fair bit of it in the initial few months; from watching a footy game at the Marvel Stadium, watching penguins at the St. Kilda Pier to seeing KAWS at the National Gallery of Victoria. The crucial part was to find a place we could call our "Home", but after hopping from my sister's place to an interim Airbnb location and finally after a month finding our own house was a journey worth documenting. We were exposed to many different areas of Melbourne during the house-hunt in just one month of our arrival and eventually ended up exploring very interesting places and having some amazing experiences on our way.
After a few months, all I can say is - " Melbourne took my heart! "
This place is special to me because, it is the small, charming part of the city I like to escape to. As a kid, I practiced my bike riding skills here, in my teen years I used to visit the beaches and the parks with friends, as an artist I still like to take inspiration from the buildings and streets. I enjoy the sights, history and multicultural elements. The Istanbul Biennale usually takes place on locations listed here on the map. Sometimes I like to sail here or just take the ferry for 30 minutes to enjoy some fresh seafood. There are many things to explore and enjoy when you visit the Büyükada in Istanbul.
This place is special to me because San Felice Circeo is where I grew up. It is a magical little town just 100km south of Rome where you can do anything you want:from hiking to diving to taste some real Italian foodies! You are surrounded by the sea and immersed in the forests of our National Park! if you go to Rome, you cannot miss spending a day here
This place is special to me because Lincoln is the perfect city to visit with your furry friend. Beautiful cobbled streets, expansive green spaces historic attractions and unique independent businesses. Here are just a handful of cafes, restaurants, hotels and attractions that would be happy to welcome you and your dog! Many of these places offer water bowls and tasty dog treats. Sorry to everyone I couldn't fit on the map, there are so many more besides!
This place is special to me because...it was living in “cottage” country, and working at a resort! How great to be able to kayak in the early mornings on a beautiful lake, I learned to sail a catamaran here, mountain biked 1000’s of km’s, skiied and met my husband here, I crashed skiing, major concussion, I ate a mogul😝and he was a ski patroller, the rest is history. I miss our tiny log cabin in the trees, but not the flying squirrels that often ended up in the bedroom, and once in the bed😝. It was an amazing decade spent there, truly blessed, the fondest of memories.
This place is special to me because...it’s isolated, and there are 300kms of white sandy beach to explore, and the only way to get here is by airplane or boat! It’s windswept, the big skies are often filled with colourful kites from the kite-boarders. You can walk for hours on a beach and not see another soul, the food is great, the people are friendly, the vistas are amazing, lots of history to explore, and amazing artisans to visit, what’s not to love? I cried when i had to leave, the Maggie’s stole my heart, so much so, I wear a silver charm of this beautiful archipelago around my neck to remind me everyday of our wonderful time there💜
This is a little island off the coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia. It’s got a local population of approximately 800, but in the summer this number quadruples. It is a vibrant community of activists, artists and young families. There is a supermarket, a school and other amenities to cater the local and tourist population. We have a tiny place here and always tell our kids that if fairies are real, they live on Hornby Island.
Mayne Island is a special place for our family. It's only a short drive and ferry ride from our place but once you arrive you feel like you're a million miles from home! It has beautiful rain forests, a peaceful environment, sea life and earthy living which makes it just right for a restful getaway. My map is a handmade watercolour painting which is my favourite way to render artwork.
