My map to my life as an essential worker. For most, stay home was a mandatory choice. For me, it was not because I worked with Seniors in nursing home. Nursing home seniors had been on lockdown with no outing and volunteers activities since February 2020. One month without relatives’ visitation. I used art as a diversionary therapy to lessen their sense of isolation and limited movement. I am mapping the journey from my home with all the needed steps of daily temperature taking, mask up, hand washing with a bottle of hand sanitizer before getting out of my safe home into social distancing in train station.
This map is a personal project reflecting on how my world has become reduced to these little boxes of space, but this map acts as a reminder to what we can do to try to stay calm and find moments of peace during lockdown life.
These maps are of the imaginary islands of the Benefit makeup world. I love makeup. I especially love makeup that has fun, whimsical, and bright packaging as well as a fun story to go with it. Benefit makeup has always had a fun and colorful brand and makes me smile just looking at their products! I'd love to island-hop this made-up world of makeup!
It's March 2020 and we're all on similar islands. I've personally been hanging out on Snack Mountain, but I'm trying to visit Positivity Point as often as possible. My husband takes the raft to Grocery Isle once per week and so far, no sightings of the Corona Monster.
It’s ‘Home Alone’! The most loved movie of all time. It may appear as an unusual map. But being an animator, my mind drifts towards movies and games sometimes. I have been a huge fan of this movie since childhood. One Christmas eve I received a gift from my father. A VCD tape of Home Alone and ever since I guess I have held on to it. I felt so excited to work on this map. It was an excellent opportunity to Illustrate the map of my all-time favorite movie. Even though I had such a long list of remarkable and beautiful cities to choose from, my heart went out for this. I hope you guys enjoy looking at it. Spit the pizza guy and the treehouse Kevin glides into through the rope.
I love this fictional town, “where everybody fits in”! As a Canadian I’m so proud of this gem. I live in a small rural town, but not as fun filled or interesting as these characters & this town! If you watch it, you’ll get this map, as I only had room to add icons from a few of my favourite episodes. There’s no real direction or compass “rose” pun intended, but just wandering through this town would prove interesting! Digitally illustrated with love! and watch out for the poison oak!
A map I drew based on my own experience of exploring my inner world.
