I spent three and half years of living in Minneapolis before I moved to New York, and I still have a soft spot for this unique Midwest city. So I created this illustrated map of local art & fun spots of Minneapolis. It reminds me of the good old days of hanging out at my favorite spots in the city. Be sure to visit in the summer!
Sometimes you have to leave a place to truly appreciate its unique qualities. It was not until living abroad I started to really see the most fantastic features of my hometown Stockholm, most of which I took for granted when living there. When making my first map ever this was my obvious choice! Being a former archaeologist I wish I could have squeezed in sooo much more! Maybe there will be another one!
Tenerife is so much more than just beaches! Nature is absolutely stunning, the great volcano Teide very impressive and I love spotting animals all around the island.
We recently went to Tenerife for the second time and loved exploring the island!
Chuang Yen Monastery is a Buddhist monastery in upstate New York. I became familiar with it by attending its annual summer camp since childhood.
Aside from the camp, many visitors frequent the monastery grounds to pray, sight-see, volunteer, and eat delicious vegetarian food! I've included a comic showing the course of a day in the monastery, from both the perspective of the monks and guests.
This is a place with a lot of heart, and I think of as a second home. I hope you can feel at home here as well!
This was created as an assignment for Rebecca Bradley's Maps class at MICA!
A piece I made for Christina Hess' Illustration Studio class. Each religious figure on the map marks the location of the cathedral it is housed in. The warm colors are inspired by classic Italian ceramic work. Two portraits of Italian sculptors(Bernini and Michelangelo) are featured on the left.
