Rourkela, the steel city of Orissa, India. It is cleanest and friendliest of all places. I grew up here and spent my childhood days. And now when I am far from my city, I miss it badly more than ever! And for everyone who loves traveling..this place is worth a visit!!
I trekked this circuit last year and was blown away by all the different views I encountered. I especially liked the hand painted trucks that belched out clouds of smoke as they weaved amongst the goats and struggled up the Himalayan roads.
The top border on my map, with the long "He. .. e. . .y" refers to the extended note that is sung at the beginning of many Gujarati folksongs (similar to yodeling.) The lower border consists of mini-versions of "rangoli" -- a design made of colored sand that is drawn on the ground before the front door of the home by Gujarati women, to welcome guests.
Ahmedabad, known to the locals as "Amdavad," is located in The state of Gujarat in western India. The borders of my map are inspired by the embroidery/patchwork/mirrorwork that the area is famous for, and the stick-figure people and animals are references to "Warli art" which is practised by the tribal people of western India.
