This year I went on vacation to NYC for the first time. The whole experience was amazing; as a graphic designer, as an illustrator, and as a girl who likes to have fun! Every corner there was something to photograph.
New York is so alive, so iconic. I wanted to capture all of the city in this illustrated map :)
Since we have lived here in Germany I have loved visiting the Christmas markets from the end of November. The big ones such as Frankfurt and Wiesbaden are wonderful but my favourites are the ones in the small towns around us that pop up just for a weekend during Advent and contain all the delicious treats: roasted caramelised almonds, glühwein and wonderful handicrafts and decorations! Trick-or-treating tips for kids. Safety first! (And FUN, of course.)
I had the opportunity to spend a week in and around Medellin, Colombia this summer. One of the highlights was visiting a 400-acre coffee farm out in the nearby countryside, and the city itself is a clean, beautiful, bustling place full of colorful sights and friendly people. This piece is a collage of impressions of each of the areas I visited during my trip.
Aurora, Illinois has the distinction of being the first city in the United States to install electric streetlights in 1881 and is also home to the most excellent Wayne and Garth. But as anyone with young children at home knows, none of that stuff matters much to them. Instead, I created this map of my hometown from my kids' point of view and included all their important landmarks: ice cream, giant dogs, construction equipment, cows, corn dogs, eagles/seagulls (to anyone under 5, they're the same thing), helicopters, chickens, and most importantly, playgrounds.
