Top 8 places around Limassol by Anry_Aquarelle
Moscow, RUThis place is special to me because of many reasons. When I first visited Cyprus a couple of years ago I couldn't imagine how many changes this trip will bring into my life. I was so inspired by nature and beautifully hidden villages of the island, that right upon my returning home I started to draw... after many years of telling myself it was too late to start. Now I think Cyprus is a real heaven for any artist and is worth visiting at least once in a lifetime. This island is a mix of all best things you can see on Greek land and can sometimes even offer some extra bonuses :) On this map I tried to show my favorite places near Limassol, the places I love to return to and the places I can recommend to everyone, who's visiting the island for the first time.

Holmön in a year by M Julie Thiel
Kalmar, SEThis place is special to me because it is unlike any other place I have been to before. Holmön is a small island with a strong sense of community in the Baltic Sea between Sweden and Finland. In the process of moving through the island’s environment, working on student projects and engaging with locals, my classmates and I had ourselves become a part of its community.
The island is removed from the hustle and bustle of a busy outside world and characterized by its physical limitations. It depicts a place of excitement, exploration and powerful contrasts. The local climate is marked by large seasonal temperature differences which offer plenty of outdoor activities all year round. During the winter months Holmön has around 50 residents who are regularly cut off due to weather and ice conditions. Every summer tourists take over the island — more than a 1000 people a day attend the annual mail rowing and folk festival. My map gives a brief overview of selected activities the island Holmön has to offer.

City of Love—O Romeo & Juliet! Verona, Italia by Grace Blooms
Chicago, Illinois, USThis place is special to me because it was the city where I rediscovered my love for opera. City where Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet was set, Verona is much more than the city of star-crossed lovers. With its rich history, beautiful architecture and unique cuisine, it was enough for me to fall in love with this charming little town. But the highlight of the trip was attending one of the shows at the ancient Roman amphitheater. I still remember the way that the singers performed under the beautiful night sky. To end the evening on a perfect note, we ate the best pistachio krapfen (donut) at an amazing little gem. It only opened late at night but that didn’t stop us from eating one too many donuts!

City of Light by Rebecca Santo
Cleveland, Ohio, USThis place is special to me because it holds my happiest memories. I was very lucky to have the opportunity to travel to France this past summer; it was my first time traveling overseas! My boyfriend, a Parisian himself, had always told me stories of Paris’ brilliance and wonder after dark. When I finally got the chance to visit, fairytales came to life while running under street lamps and glittering monuments. Those memories were the perfect way to prove that a long distance relationship is possible. Paris had among the most brilliant and colorful sights I have ever seen, and I hope to share them with you through this map!

New York - 'Locations I Love & Areas I Want To Visit' by Melissa Lomax
Philadelphia, PA, USThis place is special to me because, my sister and I spent a extraordinary long weekend in New York. It was our first big adventure together and we created so many magical memories! Now, I'd like to return and explore the rest of New York state. I love nature and there is such wide range of places to discover and enjoy. With my 'Locations I Love & Areas I Want To Visit' Map in hand, I'm ready for the next expedition!

Awe-mazing Venice by Anne Was Here
Redondo Beach, CA, USVenice is the only place on Earth that brought me to tears upon seeing it for the first (and only) time. To me it is just such a unique and special place full of quirks, beauty and history. Flooding has always been a threat to this special city and coincidentally while I was illustrating this map, it was hit with the highest tide waters it's experienced in 50 years. A recent climate change study has said that if global warming is not addressed, Venice could be completely submerged by 2100. I do hope that we citizens of the Earth can work together to effect change so that this treasured city will not some day be only visible in photographs.

Exposition Park, Los Angeles CA by Bowen Park
Los Angeles, CA, USThis is my neighborhood and one of LA’s best spots for everyone of all ages whether you love sports, science, art and everything in between. It’s a great place for locals and for out of town guests, and the best part of it is you can get there without a car. A must place destination for anyone that plans to visit LA.

London - A Love Story by Sandra Neuditschko
Vienna, Vienna, ATThis place is special to me because 2 years ago me and my husband got there for our honeymoon. It was the first time we travelled to another country, visited a museum, ate burgers, drank coffee, walked through the Hyde Park - as husband and wife.
It was the best week we could've imagined. We visited a lot of museums, ate traditional dishes, laughed a lot and simply had the best time of our life.

Historic Portsmouth NH by Carolyn Vibbert
Portsmouth, NH, USThis place is special to me because Portsmouth NH is my hometown, even though I spent half my life moving around the country. I finally did move back, and just about every morning I have the privilege of walking through this picturesque and historic neighborhood, which is the south end of the city alongside the Piscataqua River.

Knoxville, TN by Paris Woodhull
Knoxville, TN, USI grew up around artists, politicians, messy kids, ex-cons, cranky neighbors, activists and community busy-bodies. I was 4 months old when my parents moved our family from the suburbs to a house just two blocks shy of the projects in Knoxville, TN. Growing up, I never felt like my normal wasn’t “normal.” We were people learning and growing with the community around us. And Knoxville? It was changing. A slow, steady, thoughtful change. Over the years Knoxville has flourished in so many different ways while continuing to push for even more change. There were definitely moments when I thought for sure I would move. What can a small town like Knoxville offer me as an artist?! It turns out...a lot...even a living making art. I’m grateful for Knoxville and all of the ways it has taught me to love, learn, listen and grow. I was born/raised here, I've learned difficult lessons here, I've celebrated wins here, and I've felt the love of a honest/supportive community. Knoxville is home.

Madrid: a Day in Hip Malasaña by Cova Sandes
Madrid, Madrid, ESThis place is special to me because it holds the perfect harmony of the old and the new, and it’s the place I call home nowadays. I have been living in Madrid for a decade, and this is one of my favourite neighbourhoods. Bubbling with life at any time of the day and night it’s a place where you can find the trendiest people and places. Art exists inside galleries and museums but also in the streets, hip bars, pubs and cafes. My favourite thing are the contrast: the little old grocery shop next to the latest design shop, the bar that has been serving people for a 100 years (true story) packed with the trendiest crowd... If you’re into shopping here you will find the best vintage shops, and the newest design too. I have listed my favourite places in the area so you can have a complete day exploring: you can see art, grab a coffee, go shopping, have a bite, a drink and even dance all night.

A typographic trail through Bremen by Christiane Becker
Oyten, Niedersachsen, DEThis place is special to me because it is my hometown Bremen, an old "Hansestadt" in the north of Germany. I love roaming around the city ... and I love to discover all the different typographic elements, at doors and walls and even on the ground. Join me on a typographic trail! A special guest on the map is the penguin - he's a grafitti at a housewall and was sprayed some years ago by my son Jonathan.
