Kew Gardens is one of the most special places in London. It is huge and beautiful with all kind of plants and magical gardens. My favourite places are the waterlily house, the Pagoda and the Palm house where you forget that you are in a big city. In this map you can see some of the buildings and gardens but it is much more, it’s great place to explore and discover.
This place is special to me because I grew up on the Florida beaches, and one year worked for an architect whose office was within walking distance of this architectural gem. I remember the incredibly designed cabinetry, trim work, and built-ins I saw in the interiors, and the painstaking deliberation over small details such as exterior paint colors. Many houses have names, picket fences line foot paths (cars aren't needed), and a short walk through artsy pavilions will take you to what everyone comes to see -the fine, powdery white sands and aqua blue surf. When hunger strikes there are plenty of food options, and for entertainment there is shopping, theater/fine arts performances, educational lectures, and bike rentals. I would love to go back with my camera to recapture memories from long ago. Seaside has been heralded as "probably the most influential resort community since Versailles" by Newsweek. I highly recommend visiting here if you love the ocean, architectural beauty and design, and want a peaceful, urban-modern vacation in a small community.
It’s a city of medieval houses and narrow cobblestoned streets with a very romantic and cozy waterfront and lovely parks – just perfect for a stroll. And there is always the right time to clink glasses with the locally grown sparkling wine! In December the famous Christmas market takes place and the beautifully lit old town makes just the perfect backdrop for impressive memories of a lovely visit.
Summer time in northern Michigan is full of adventure! I love crossing the Mighty Mac to go hiking in the Upper Peninsula (officially called The U.P.) or cruising on a ferry to Mackinac Island. The island does not allow vehicles, but the best way to explore is on bike or horse carriage. Plus all the water activities provide plenty of fun. The winters are long and the summers are short..so spending as much time on the Great Lakes is my favorite place!
Recently I visited Gran Canaria and the island became instantly one of my favourite places. I love its incredibly Iong beaches, dunes of white sand, beautiful mountains, stunning nature, picturesque villages and different climates with long days full of sunshine. Due to this variety it is often described as a "continent in miniature". The map shows the places I visited on the island, but there is much more to discover.
A little passion project for my friend Hope Schaffer-Colling who witnessed first hand the destruction of Hurricane Dorian. I long admired her adventurous spirit to move from NY to SF then to sell it all for a simple life on the tropical island of Elbow Cay in the Bahamas with her husband. The ABC's of Hope Town is an art print featuring many of the islands iconic landmarks and a dash of Bahamian nomenclature. A digital download is available with a $20 (minimum) GoFundMe donation directly benefiting Hope Town Primary School.
This is not a map but when I saw all your maps and gardens I was so inspired to draw our garden and share with you the layout of where we have fruit trees and food grown. We make our own compost and we have a veggie garden on the side of the house as well as herbs and chillies. There are actually more fruit trees than what I show here but it was difficult to draw all of them!
Prospect Park is the place to be when I need to clear my head and let my mind wander! It's a 10 minute walk from my apartment so I'm there quite often, especially in the summer. Even though it's situated in an urban environment there have been many times that I have taken walks on the winding paths in the park and have felt far away from the city.
