I illustrated a travel guide of the moon, highlighting popular activities and notable sites. All mostly imagined, of course. Prominent moon legends such as the man in the moon, the moon rabbit and the werewolf make an appearance, along with space visitors Laika and flying monkeys. And robots. I modeled this illustration after atomic space age design from the 1960s and 1970s.
There is one magic day during summer, when colorful cuddlies and squeeshy shiny balls are falling down from the sky, and kids are reaching for them. This is the universe as seen through the toddler’s eyes who watches the show and gives names to all planets he sees. I was inspired by 2 years old nephew - we’ve been watching starry sky and falling perseids together :-)
Dedicating this magical illustration to my favourite story book from my childhood 'The Little Prince' by French writer and aviator, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry first published in 1943. Despite this story being nearly 80 years old; it holds infinite knowledge about life, a forever store of wisdom and most importantly, teaches us about love. About kindness, respect towards nature and our beautiful world, looking from above the stars as he looks around the planets and tells his story, teaching a lesson planet by planet. Not only it is a book about all the most important things in life but it lets us believe in innocent imagination like we did when we were children. “All grown-ups were once children... but only few of them remember it.”
At the elementary particle level, we humans, animals, plants, the earth, planets, stars and galaxies are all made of almost the same material. When I learned that fact when I was a student, I was very moved by the miracle of the universe. We are definitely part of the universe. We exist in the universe, but at the same time, there is a universe inside us! This is drawn with acrylic gouache, watercolor and colored pens.
What if a map could be drawn with colored pencils? You could do it in your own way! Where could it lead? Sometimes you just don’t know, you simply feel that wonderful feeling that pushes you to find happiness, even in outer space.
I was thinking about Mother Earth and Mother Ocean and how there must be a Mother Universe! The universe is her beautiful garden, with carpets of stars, magnificent planets, glowing galaxies and astonishing nebulae. She lives in a black hole and we’ve got it all wrong about these singularities gobbling up everything because of their gravitational pull - they are just attracting everything to them, because they want everything to be as one in harmony!
I wish I can see all this 12 constelattions some day!!!! On this map you can see the Zodiac. Ancient cultures used to determine the time of the year by this cycle. The Sun appears to pass through these constellations over the course of a year. This groups of stars are astrological signs , also known as signs of the zodiac. In order, they are - Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.
Watercolor on paper. The inspiration for this illustration was a bedtime story my 4 year old told his little sister, he’s obsessed with space and my girl has a little thing for princesses, they have the most amazing imagination and I thought sharing a piece of it will make them so happy. Plus every princess deserves going to space to catch a dancing star
