Here are a few of my favorite restaurants and cafes in the charming Bishop Arts District-- a historical shopping and entertainment district located in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, Texas. This area only spans a few blocks, so it makes a perfect spot for an afternoon stroll in the city!
As a family of 5, we love exploring all of the local (and not so local) outdoor hiking opportunities in and around Illinois with our girls. Spring Valley in Schaumburg, Illinois hits all the buttons for us: epic play area, prairies and trails lined with blackberry and black raspberry bushes in June and July, an awesome Nature Center, covered picnic areas, a heritage farmstead with animals and BONUS-- it is all FREE to explore and enjoy.
My favourite walk is a local jaunt that takes about 30 minutes. Along narrow pathways surrounded by trees and filled with a diversity of wildlife. The changing of the seasons means there’s always something new to discover. Chattering birds, sheep that pretend to ignore you, hungry ducks and a pair of Swans, who return each year to nest. A large, fluffy Maine Coon walks up and down the road, greeting anyone willing to stop and stoke it. There’s also a historic, manor farm with a dovecote, the building and grounds of which have been used in film sets and for Shakespearean productions during the summer months.
This is based on the walk I planned for our 3 day Chicago trip and this map shows the walking tour we did on one of the days.
Sefton Park is a popular place for stroll within the city of Liverpool. Its bandstand was said to have influenced the Beatles song, ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’. The Palmhouse is an iconic Victorian glasshouse and the boating lake is home to a variety of ducks, swans and even herons. You must throw some coins into the waterfall pool at the Fairy Glen and make a wish -then go to see how many creatures you can find engraved in the statue of Peter Pan! No wonder it’s a family favourite place to visit on Merseyside.
Hectic Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia, Many tourists treat Jakarta as an entry and exit point to Indonesia, but if you are passing through the city and have some time to spare then there are a wide range of attractions to enjoy from quirky museums to a variety of street foods. Jakarta is also a great place to learn more about Indonesia’s complicated history, and you can visit a variety of culturally and historically significant locations such as the old town and the port which will give you a glimpse of how the city would have looked in the past times. As well as harking back to the days of old, Jakarta is one of the most modern cities in Indonesia, and you can spend time embracing this cutting edge side of the city at its famous malls, bars, and restaurants. Jakarta may be crowded, loud, and busy, but it certainly isn’t boring.
Walking through the historic district of my hometown is a magic experience full of stories, old cathedrals, sea breeze and the joy of it's people. I recommend to start this tour at sunset and finish it with a cool beer at night. Hope you like it!
Gouache and ink brush pen edited digitally. Walking along the boulevard is a great idea especially in the summertime. I love sitting in a cafe and having an amazing black tea with thyme. Or I go to Fountain Square where I can meet my friend. There are lots of places I love to walk in Baku. Can`t fit them all on the map
I love markets, I love to walk though the stalls, to look for fun things or things I need. I can spend hours walking around big markets everywhere in the world. This year this has been a recurrent and nice walk, the one we are allowed to do to and through the neighbourhood market.
Maybe I shouldn’t give away our little secret, but my home town of Fort Collins Colorado is a little jewel nestled at the base of the Rocky Mountains. Our vibrant downtown is a great place to wander. Fort Collins is said to be one of the inspirations for Main Street Disneyland and you can feel the magic when you are here. Little shops, awesome restaurants, and street performers provide dynamic entertainment. Minutes away you can be connected to the Poudre River or extensive bike paths.
This is the route to my favorite castle that I often go to. It takes about an hour from my house to that point, which is a good walking course :) What is depicted in this illustration is the things I found along the way. The route is a little bit complicated and I often get lost, so I always use them as "guides" to reach the castle.
