As an assemblage artist I have a blast looking for found objects, inspiration & eating good food in Santa Fe, N.M. I bet there are others who would love spending 3-5 days doing the same.
Canyon Largo is a giant piece of BLM/public land 4 times the length of Manhattan, 50+miles long from the beginning (Blanco, NM) to the end where it meets up with the state highway.
The canyon is full of the remains of 3 cultures, the Anasazi /Pueblo people (1200 B.C. to A.D. 1300), Navajo and early Hispanic settlers. This is my favorite hiking spot. Quiet, endless, remote, surprising, harsh, beautiful and none of it paved.
No time is bad time to be in Big Sur. You can go in January to see the whales, December to see the monarch butterflies, May to see the wildflowers, or anytime to see the redwoods, waterfalls, mountaintops, seals, tide pools, beaches and sunsets.
My family has been vacationing in Michiana for one week in August every year since I was very little. We spend most of our time on the beach reading and searching for beach treasures. It is the most relaxing week of summer and I look forward to it every year. It will always hold a place in my heart and I hope in the future to continue this tradition when I start my own family.
Here's the the most coolest and warmest city! Minneapolis is not only charming, cozy, with beautiful nice people, it has a vibrant music atmosphere, scenery that will leave you in awe, and food to die for!
Who knows you might even see Prince walking around ;)
I have always loved the architecture in this city. New and Old. Spanish design is so sensual and inviting. Welcoming. All those curves! If you like to picnic, the top of the hill at Junipero Serra has great views, but my favorite little park is down below, off of Taylor street. The trees are so pretty and it is a quiet little haven in the middle of the city. OK you might have to imagine the quiet part, but it will be one of your favorite spots too if you visit! At the Children's pool you can walk out into the crashing waves.... and more than likely you will get wet! Great on a warm day!
Some of these businesses have been around for over 100 years! These are portraits of the owners. They tend to their shops daily and if you stop in, you'll probably see them!
