This place is special to me because this beautiful Balearic town evokes sweet memories and time spent both daydreaming and making important life decisions. It feels like a safe cocoon for one to take time and explore all the options ahead while being inspired by the colourful food and design that awaits in every restaurant, gallery & shop. Palma for me represents freedom, possibilities and abundance of life itself!
This place is special to me because it is a cute, small, cycle-friendly city. I love ambling through its quaint streets, seeing what's new at my favourite places and shopping without bringing back any plastic...all on a cycle!
Northern Öland, an island and a county in the south of Sweden, is one of my happy places. My family and I have spent almost ten years in a row there now, it was love at first sight. It's the garden, the cottages, the barns, the beaches, the sea, the landscape ... Evening bike rides between corn fields, or getting fresh cranberry scones from the bakery in the mornings, our dog trying to "rescue" all of us as we swim and play in the sea. Whenever the gray northern weather strikes, I imagine myself walking on the beach, sun set and the sound of the waves.
The golden deer is the symbol of the flag of Öland, and nightingale is the county's animal. The small island just outside of Öland, called The Blue Maiden, is thought to be a magic place in Swedish folklore, it's where the witches were believed to meet up ...
This place is special to me because I'm in awe that such a little strip of coastline can hold all this abundance of wildlife and wonder. In one stroll you can experience ALL the weather, hike the trails, swim or enjoy the ocean, shop for eclectic local wares, eat home made food, and drink a locally brewed beverage. My children often have their classes on the sand dunes or watching the salmon spawn in the fall. I'm very grateful to live here.
Our vacation spot where we suspend reality to relax, indulge, and let go. Our favorite spots are Bread and Roses for breakfast, lunch, and a late afternoon coffee jolt (laying on the beach is hard work). After dinner we head to the Front Porch to hear the piano man and theater lovers belt out showtunes. We'll catch musical theater at the Ogunquit Playhouse. We'll take leisurely walks along Marginal Way (it's better than a treadmill and the view of the seemingly endless ocean is calming). When rains comes we hangout in our rental cottage to read, watch mindless TV, and nap.
This place is special to me because I recently moved from Chicago IL to Galway Ireland which has been a huge change of scenery. I try to walk down to this area of the city at lest once a day because it is always such a calm and beautiful place which never fails to put a smile on my face.
This place is special to me because, it is the small, charming part of the city I like to escape to. There are no motor vehicles allowed so everybody is walking or cycling. As a kid, I practiced my bike riding skills here, in my teen years I used to visit the beaches and the parks with friends, as an artist I still like to take inspiration from the buildings and streets. I enjoy the sights, history and multicultural elements. The Istanbul Biennale usually takes place on locations listed here on the map. Sometimes I like to sail here or just take the ferry for 30 minutes to enjoy some fresh seafood. There are many things to explore and enjoy when you visit the Büyükada in Istanbul.
This place is special because talks to me about the mediterranean people and our way of life. Sometimes it’s and easy path through the trees, the most quiet place on earth and it’s all calm and peace of mind. Sometimes it’s narrow and hard and climb it’s a tough thing. This is a strange windy brave coast, with only a few small beaches to get some rest, but it’s worthy to do the walk and celebrate every stop with some fresh good food and nice chat around the table. Enjoy the way!
Awarded the best urban Park in the World, the Chapultepec Park is an oasis of leisure and peace in the middle of the heavily populated and busy Mexico City. This Park has something to offer for everyone, from gorgeous gardens to chic restaurants and the only castle in Latinoamerica, among other incredible places to visit; Chapultepec Park is truly a gem to discover.
Kepler is a (fictional) small, and sleepy town tucked in the West Virginian Monongahela National Forest. Located in the National Radio Quiet Zone, the town is sure to notice when something goes bump in the night-- yet there is a secret, stone archway hidden in the woods that the rest of town has yet to hear about. When the moonlight hits just right, where is it that the archway opens up to, and more importantly, what is coming over into Kepler? From the Adventure Zone, the hit D&D podcast from the McElroy family, Kepler is the setting of the Amnesty campaign all about cryptids and monster hunting.
I'm not from Orlando, but I like to say that our little family is "from" Orlando since my husband and I both went to school here, met, got married, and had two babies in the City Beautiful. During our time as Orlando residents, we loved to get takeout from a restaurant or grab a drink + dessert from a cafe or pick up fixin's for a perfect picnic and sit together under the warm sunshine in one of Orlando's many green parks. We also have a thing for books and our idea of a lovely day is lounging on a picnic blanket with good reads and great eats.
This place is special to me because I have been to the States only twice and this is a very special place I’d love to visit again next time during fall when the leaves are so wonderfully colored and one can absorb the beautiful nature on extensive walks through the Acadia National Park. There is a good chance to catch a glimpse on mooses and birds. Usually lobsters are a luxurious delicacy but here they are abundant and make for an affordable dinner.
