Tibetan prayer flags or Dar-Cho as they are called, are a common sight in the Himalayas and in Sikkim, it's the vertical ones hung on bamboo poles that attract attention. The 5 colors in the flags represent the 5 elements in nature and the mantras written on the flags are carried through the blowing wind. With Mt. Kanchenjunga in the background (almost always shrouded in clouds) the colourful prayer flags add rustic beauty to the landscape.
Taronga Zoo is an amazing place to explore and discover wildlife. I visited it last winter when I was on vacation in Sydney. Unfortunately, large fires happened at the same time. This piece is to commemorate the wild animals killed in the fire and hope that people do not despise the power of nature.
It’s ‘Home Alone’! The most loved movie of all time. It may appear as an unusual map. But being an animator, my mind drifts towards movies and games sometimes. I have been a huge fan of this movie since childhood. One Christmas eve I received a gift from my father. A VCD tape of Home Alone and ever since I guess I have held on to it. I felt so excited to work on this map. It was an excellent opportunity to Illustrate the map of my all-time favorite movie. Even though I had such a long list of remarkable and beautiful cities to choose from, my heart went out for this. I hope you guys enjoy looking at it. Spit the pizza guy and the treehouse Kevin glides into through the rope.
Thank you for taking a look at my illustrated map of Bristol, UK. It is where I call home as I have lived here for the longest time. It is a city of mixed cultures and history, a strong accent and local slang words. Bristol has a whole lot of soul and character, I love this place, it's gert lush! (really good/awesome)
This place is special to me because these are all of my favorite hiding spots during the cold months of winter. My map is filled with some of my very favorite comfort foods and places to stop for a tea or coffee. I also like visiting the botanical center or Jordan's Jungles so I can start dreaming of spring and what I will plant in my garden.
his place is special to me because I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to live and work here for the past year. Rio is an impossible city; full of breathtaking beauty, frustrations, joy, and complications. Its busyness and hustle lie in stark contrast to the unmovable tranquility of the mountains and ocean that cradle the city. Although this map may seem jam packed with details, I actually had a tough time paring down the places and references I included!
Los Angeles is an amazing place to visit, but it’s an even more special place to live. As a second generation Angeleno, I can say that LA is so much more than Hollywood and the beach. We have pretty much everything you can imagine. Come see for yourself!
