My grandparents live in Yokohama. When I was little, my grandpa, who is crazy about baseball, used to take me to the stadium to watch baseball games, while my grandma would take me to China Town and we enjoyed yummy Yum cha for lunch! This lovely port city always brings back memories of my childhood. Nowadays Yokohama is becoming more and more modern with new skyscrapers, cool diners, gorgeous shopping malls and so on. They even have unique museums, such as the Cup Noodle museum and Ramen museum. How fun! There is so much to see here!
Though "Midwestern-ish English" isn't technically a romance language, you'll be feelin' the love with these super cute go-to Cleveland date spots that have a very special place in my heart (though maybe you should avoid the Lake Erie monster)
Done for the Maps class at MICA in Baltimore (obviously I'm a little homesick)
In front of Nurnberg Hauptmarkt, everything is happening. Fresh fruits and vegetables are waiting for people to take them home. Couples are taking walks, people enjoy their free day. I had a fresh German beer and a bite of tasty Nurnberg Bratwurste. What a wonderful day!
Since we have lived here in Germany I have loved visiting the Christmas markets from the end of November. The big ones such as Frankfurt and Wiesbaden are wonderful but my favourites are the ones in the small towns around us that pop up just for a weekend during Advent and contain all the delicious treats: roasted caramelised almonds, glühwein and wonderful handicrafts and decorations! Here are my favourites.
I have always loved Thai floating markets. There is something about the noise and chaos of the crowds, mixed with the many different things to eat, see and buy that makes it an extremely fun way to spend a day. The floating markets are comprised of canals filled with vendors selling things out of their boats. You can either walk along the side and they will row up to you, or you can hire a boat to take you around for an hour. At famous Amphawa Floating Market, Samut Songkhram and Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Ratchaburi has some amazing and unique markets that I was always excited to visit. Although most of them have gotten a bit touristy, they are still such a wonderful experience that they are totally worth a visit once or more! :)
