I submitted this for the picnic challenge, but wanted to post it here as well, since it fits too! ;-) I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that right now I think I might like to travel somewhere far, far away—preferably alone, with a coffee, and a piece of chocolate cake. If only for a little while, just to be able to look at our planet as a whole and realize that there is beauty that remains despite it all. ~Allyson Wilson IG: allyson.wilson_art
I would live on Planet Peanut Butter Cup. But sometimes I'd like to take the Stroopwafel Spacecraft, fight my way through a Powdered Donut Dust Storm, and visit some Dark Chocolate Matter. Who knows where the Gummy Wormhole would take you?
Bread has a permanent place on our plates and in our hearts, wherever we live. Nearly every nation in the world has some form of bread that they claim as their own. Whether yeasted or unleavened, with added seeds or unadorned, these breads are unique to each country.
During time of Covid I made endless versions of Baozi with my kids, which is now a firm favourite.
This little collage began as a submission for sister site at TDAC. Then, as I added the black background they began to look like little flying saucers, so I went with it 👽 It was 2AM & a full moon & I was under a very starry influence
Frankfurt has a long tradition of selling fresh products on the streets. There have been farmers' markets in Frankfurt since the 12th century. The map shows six of the overall 20 farmers' markets, which exist in the city of Frankfurt nowadays. Each district has its own one an a particular day of the week from Tuesday to Saturday.
Spending more time at home has me making more trips to the imaginary junk food truck than I'd like to admit. The added stress that this pandemic has brought on has me wondering if I am actually hungry or if I am stressed. Knowing how I feel before I reach for a sweet snack has given me more awareness of both my eating habits and my emotions. This allows for more self care and healthier choices overall.
As a broke of college art-school student, here is my guide to save most of your money in Silver Spring, MD! You start off with your classes at the Cafritz center! After a long day of classes and drawing, you get a little hungry right? Here are your options - 711: Instant ramen, mini beef tacos, some chips and water; fine dining wouldn't you say? The Big Greek Cafe: They sell fresh Gyro's for only 5$ on Wednesdays! Kaldi's Cafe: Your main caffeine supply, if you get to know the baristas you might get lucky and get an extra espresso shot in your cappuccino. (shoutout Casen and Kathy) Fortunately for me I use to work at the Starbucks in the corner, so I occasionally get free food. Usually don't go there cause it's kind of a walk from school. (shoutout ash and rein) Or maybe you're ready to purchase some overpriced art supplies? Head over the Plaza Art Store and preemptively apologize to your wallet. (The people at Plaza are actually great staff that do their best to give you the best discounts, shoutout to Theo) Library is a pretty nice place to study; lots of window. Planet fitness, cause fitness is great. and that's about it
During my time at home during COVID-19 in 2020, I’ve spent a lot of time researching recipes, finding recipes for the ingredients I have in the house, and on Zoom or online meetings. This illustration is a fun expression of both for the Mapping This Moment theme.
I love grocery shopping, it's therapeutic. And heading to the neighbourhood supermarket is probably the most 'exciting' moment in my life these days. In Singapore, the new normal now is having to put on masks, have our IDs scanned and temperature checked before we're allowed into the supermarkets. It's also interesting to observe what everyone is buying these days to stock up at home. Stuff that people used to panic buy - eggs, hand sanitizer, toilet paper - are now fully stocked. Instead, kimchi, pasta and baking goods are flying off the shelves. It's also a bummer that everyone else loves sour cream and onion chips as much as I do. What are people stocking up on in your area, and what are your personal essential items to tide you through this stay home period? Keep a safe distance and stay healthy!
This place is special to me because the beaches in the San Francisco Bay Area are extremely beautiful and so easy to reach by foot or bike or car or bus! And, the coffee is amazing! I take hikes at one of these places on a weekly basis. I recommend them all!
