This map shows the sites to visit while wandering in the historic center of the southern France city of Aix-en-Provence. You can walk in those streets for hours! I've been living myself in Aix-en-Provence for more than 11 years and I still get lost in those small streets! That is why I didn't draw a geographically accurate map. You do not visit the historic center of Aix-en-Provence with a map, there are too much small streets. You just wander and the monuments will be there, awaiting for you. It's always a discovery, but you are sure these sites are great to visit and the general style of the center, with those extremely old buildings, is so romantic. When you finish, you can have a nice view over the mountain called Sainte Victoire and have a break eating the sweets of the city, called Calisson. That's the proper end to your walk! I've left the names in French because they are proper nouns that you cannot translate (Albertas, Rotonde, etc.) or they are transparent words (such as cathédrale, place...) so it gives a little French charm, but the reader still understands. For this "provençal" map, I chose a sketch style that, in my opinion, testifies the best of the atmosphere of this city that has a very artistic History (city of Paul Cézanne, Picasso lived only 15 km away in a village). I tried to recreate the wonderful colors of Provence, the sweet nature atmosphere.
The capital of Poland has its' legends and its' icons. The Mermaid is one of the most famous icons. And very close to the inhabitants of Warsaw. The Mermaid has two monuments. One is located in the heart of the Old Town Square, the other - right on the bank of the Vistula River. The walk between them is a great opportunity to see the romantic part of Warsaw.
I discovered this walk while doing one of the parts of the Green Chain walk in London. It was a surprise to me to discover the statues of the dinosaurs and the Maze. I had seen mazes like that in movies but never in reality so it was super fun to go inside and find the exit. The whole park is kind of magical and it is interesting to imagine the Crystal Palace which doesn’t exist anymore because of a big fire. The only parts remaining from the palace are the terraces and a tiny bit square but you can still imagine how big it was and how beautiful the place used to be.
The ‘24 Stops’ walk or also called Rehberger-Weg is around 5 km long, runs between Switzerland and Germany and links two of my favorite museums - Fondation Beyeler and Vitra Campus & Vitra Design Museum. Along the path are placed 24 sculptures, created by the artist Tobias Rehberger. The route runs through meadows, vineyards and you can enjoy a lot of beautiful sights. This is my favorite walk in the spring.
WHERE WE WALK Map Challenge. Don't get me wrong, there are many more cats and lions in Venice, but relying on my memories I have chosen to represent those that have remained in my heart. The walk illustrated on the map goes from the Accademia Galleries (near the Academy of Fine Arts where I studied) to the wonderful San Marco square, in the heart of the city.
These are some of my favorite sculptures in downtown NYC. This walk takes you through so many unique neighborhoods…from the townhouses of Greenwich Village to the cast iron lofts of SOHO to the skyscrapers near Wall Street. There is so much to see! I love this town.
During the second UK Lockdown, I am quarantining in Hove, a place I've got to know fairly well over the past few years. Locals refer to the town as "Hove, actually" because Brighton&Hove is the official name for the city (Brighton) and "Hove actually" differentiates itself as a town by the city of Brighton.
What if a map could be drawn with colored pencils? You could do it in your own way! Where could it lead? Sometimes you just don’t know, you simply feel that wonderful feeling that pushes you to find happiness, even in outer space.
I have always loved sci fi films from childhood (like Flash Gordon) and it remains one of my favourite cinematic genres. These films serve my love of adventure, wild imagination, with many being thought provoking, highlighting what it means to be human (and our place in the Universe )
