While living in the same street for 26 years, I've changed my country 5 times.
Sometimes in Balkans, we love to forget our history. Luckily, monuments of the past stay and they remind us of grandiose times, better tomorrows and fight our grandparents fought. This is the map of some of the most significant (personal and no so) places of the former Yugoslavia found in its capital - Belgrade.
This map is special to me because it is a map of my part of Quezon City. This is my first attempt, and I showcased some of the spots to visit in this side of "Kyusi". I opted to draw my city (lived here since birth!), because, while it isn't as tourist-popular as Manila, Bonifacio Global City, or Makati City, it also has a lot to offer! This is just a tiny part of Quezon City, but I hope it would be helpful for those who'd want to visit Quezon City. Of course, I had to include a few places to get good, wallet-friendly noms, too! The Quezon City sign on the left is inspired by the small placards placed on jeepney dashboards, indicating the jeepney's routes. The compass rose, meanwhile, was inspired by the sun on our flag.
This place is special to me because I grew up and experienced most of my life here. Chicago is an amazing city filled with delicious foods, beautiful art, and remarkable music from around the world. There is so much to do and see that even I find new things to experience every time I visit. One thing that sticks out to me is the beautiful street art fellow artists create. That is what I wanted to base my illustration on. The art painted on the walls.
When it comes to describing my special place, it would be Ottawa, Canada, because that is where my grandmother lives. Like the bear in this picture, my grandmother is where my home is. She brings lots of joy, love, and beauty to the family.
Ann Arbor, particularly downtown, is special to me for a variety of reasons. I've trained for jobs there, wandered the streets on outings with friends, attended concerts, had a memorable bad date in A2 (as some locals call it) and attend the annual Hash Bash festival, along with other art festivals that are always happening every season. There are many beautiful cities in Michigan, and in the fall the showcase of colors in the trees is something we always marvel at. From great food to good music, art and people, A2 has some amazing places to see and things to do!
This is one of my favorite places I vacationed in style with my dog. Carmel by the sea is super pet friendly and always beautiful. There are many places to walk, eat, hike, shop and explore. Your furry friend is even welcome to swim and run on the beach. It is priced on the high side but worth it! It's very relaxing and full of culture, too!
This place is special to me because I have a lot of great memories in Warsaw, where I went to school and studied. I think there are quite a few places to see around the city, and even more importantly, many things to do. This map can be a small guide about where to go, what to do, and also what to taste in the central area of Warsaw.I hope this map will encourage people to come and fall in love with a city with beautiful heart and difficult history.
Los Angeles is an amazing place to visit, but it’s an even more special place to live. As a second generation Angeleno, I can say that LA is so much more than Hollywood and the beach. We have pretty much everything you can imagine. Come see for yourself!
This place is special to me because I grew up in Kragujevac and a few years ago I returned to my hometown to finish my university degree. Like most people from small towns, I too, was itching to move as soon as possible, get out there and see the world. I'm not saying I've changed, but I've started to appreciate this place more over time, people who live here, it's history. It is said that the town got its name after a bird, a type of raven or an eagle, that's been living in these areas for centuries - kraguj. And if you were to visit for a day, here are a few places to stop by. (:
Graz by von_leonieNürnberg, Deutschland, DE
I've moved around a lot but Graz is the town I call my home town, so it's my special place. The whole old town is gorgeous and the view from Schloßberg is spectacular. Alle of the view points can be seen from the top of this hill, which makes it the perfect place to visit. The Kunsthaus (also described as friendly alien) is definitely one of the stranger buildings I've ever seen.
