Rich with natural and man made heritage, Mongolia is a vast country, home of the largest equestrian statue in the world- it's 40 m tall and depicts Genghis Khan on horseback. It is also a country of many dinosaur discoveries, singing dunes, hot springs, ancient Buddhist monasteries and palaces.
Nara, a city near Kyoto, is a perfect city for day-trip. As Japan's capital city during Nara Period, it contains many historical Buddhism temples (including Todaiji - world's largest wooden building). Deer wander freely around near Nara Park.
Tourists usually arrive at one of the railway stations (JR or Kintetsu), and then walk around the east part of the city to visit temples and deers. There are some Nara foods along the way.
Pen, ink and stitching on Lokta Paper, which is a handmade artisan paper indigenous to Nepal. I was inspired to do this drawing based based on a memory of a concert I attended at The Wexner Center of the Arts in Columbus, Ohio. They brought in Tuva Throat singers from Mongolia. The sound they produce is very unique and memorable.
