I'm fortunate enough to live close to London and have always enjoyed its delights, from historical, gastronomical, theatrical and musical. I'm hoping that every month throughout 2017 I will submit a map here on TDAC. It will mostly be of world cities but I may go off at a tangent depending on how I feel !
Paris smells like piss and its a tough city. But i love it anyway. 3 weeks of drawing inside the subway system and around HLM buildings. I like it rough you know. But for your convenience i also went to see some classic highlights such as Sacré Coeur, Arc de Triomphe and a keychain of the Eiffel-tower :))
I came back to London full-time drawing for 8 days and created this mental map of the places i knew when i was living there for half a year. Mostly urban areas of east and central London, including my faves tower bridge and barbican center. If you know London, you will feel home in this urban jungle.
Born in Berlin, this was the first city i drew in this style. I was drawing on the streets of mostly Prenzlauer Berg and in Kreuzberg techno clubs as well as in buses and on train stations. It's not a sightseeing map for tourists; this is an insight to my mental maps of what i call home.
Do some self-guided London sightseeing tour by using London's own transport system, passing many tourist attractions as Trafalgar Square or Victoria Palace Theatre by bus. At Westminster Pier get on board at River Thames bus service. You can see London's famous landmarks as Big Ben, London Eye, St Pauls Cathedral, the Tower and the Tower Bridge from the water. From Tower Gateway you can take DLR train, which is an automated light metro system. The trains are fully controlled by computer. Take a place in front where normaly the driver is sitting and enjoy an unusual trip with a marvelous view on the Docklands and Canary Warf until you reach Greenwich!
Directly between the Hyde Park and the Regent's Park in London there is a picturesque area known as Little Venice. With Narrowboat you can travel the Regent's Canal until Camden Lock Market.
