Starting from the castle, passing under the tower, waching the deep well, tasting many different traditional and original food, having a glass of good wine, walking on the old alleys, hearing gripping tales, waching the blue sky, having a nice day...
Tugu Monumen and its surrounding is my favorite place in my hometown; there are so many things to see and it's a perfect place to wander without feeling worried about getting burned by the sun (trembesi's great canopy make a great shadow too).
This is what the place I grew up in looked like when I was 7 years old. There was a river and right across the river was my elementary school. It was such a beautiful place that artists always stayed there for hours to paint it on canvas. As kids we loved watching them work with oils. I can go on and on about this place, and if you are interested in the rest of the story please visit my blog, I'm going to do a post about it tonight. www.mirdinara.blogspot.com
For your next trip to Venice I highly suggest staying on Lido! You can bike and swim everywhere. It's like a big, beautiful, tropical Italian paradise. And, if you must go to Venice, it's only a 12 minute vaporetto ride away, but trust, one taste of Lido and you might not need Venice! Here is my hotel recommendation for those of you within a budget (http://www.hotelvillaparco.com/).
I studied at the Savannah College of Art and Design and fell in love with Savannah. Exploring the city by foot became a favourite pastime after living my entire life in a place where you can barely go anywhere without a car. Savannah is the perfect place for such a pastime, what with its historic architecture, and its Southern charm where utter strangers will often exchange greetings. While I have a lot of cherished places there, my absolute favourite route goes through these three squares down in Bull St. You can find out more about this illustration in my blog.
