Many layers — people, their activities centered on a huge open park, which change with the changing seasons. Tree-lined walkways, a promenade and a ground within a few footsteps from the residences — Mumbai’s Shivaji Park1 is a study of contrasts, of different worlds all within the same time and space. At any given time, the place is home to different people engaged in varied interests — one might be more visible than the other but all of them as intense. There is a sought magic to this place. For a dense metropolitan like Mumbai, this space is a breather and a blessing. And this is the reason for my love for this space.

1.Created in 1925, Shivaji Park is the largest public park in Mumbai. With a rich historical and cultural background because of the political and social gatherings it has witnessed—both in pre- and post independence Mumbai—the open space is now renowned as the cradle of Indian cricket.
