J'ai Deux Amours - Paris et Paris

When I was little I wanted to marry Paris. This illustration is a homage to the profusion of its wild beauty : the most exquisite Japanese paper shops before a hot chocolate you pour over your finger and watch it set, and a table set in the frenetic bustle of the nostalgic time warping restaurants written around the edge of the piece. In Paris lives my imaginary superhero, Serge Padon, incognito in the corner; for years he has been the impertinent protagonist for the delicious scenes and people you see in the streets, the metro stations, the galleries and the bars perfumed with a little drop of poison. Each piece of paper is treasure collected in the numerous flea markets there - my favourite occupation, alongside tango dancing on the Seine banks under Notre Dame, and drawing old maps and illuminations in one of the gorgeous libraries peppered around the Marais. I moved 8 times in 3 years in Paris, always getting closer to the clouds, always faithful.
