This map shows the sites to visit while wandering in the historic center of the southern France city of Aix-en-Provence. You can walk in those streets for hours! I've been living myself in Aix-en-Provence for more than 11 years and I still get lost in those small streets! That is why I didn't draw a geographically accurate map. You do not visit the historic center of Aix-en-Provence with a map, there are too much small streets. You just wander and the monuments will be there, awaiting for you. It's always a discovery, but you are sure these sites are great to visit and the general style of the center, with those extremely old buildings, is so romantic. When you finish, you can have a nice view over the mountain called Sainte Victoire and have a break eating the sweets of the city, called Calisson. That's the proper end to your walk! I've left the names in French because they are proper nouns that you cannot translate (Albertas, Rotonde, etc.) or they are transparent words (such as cathédrale, place...) so it gives a little French charm, but the reader still understands. For this "provençal" map, I chose a sketch style that, in my opinion, testifies the best of the atmosphere of this city that has a very artistic History (city of Paul Cézanne, Picasso lived only 15 km away in a village). I tried to recreate the wonderful colors of Provence, the sweet nature atmosphere.
