Bio:

I hale from the land of potatoes - Boise, Idaho - and a home of love, laughter, art, music, ongoing education, and cozy homebodies. I graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington with a B.A. in Art (with a concentration in bookmaking and printmaking) and in French Literature, got married, and moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts to pursue a Master's in Art in Education at the Harvard Graduate School. In addition to creating my own art, I also act as the atelierista (or “Studio Teacher”) at the Reggio Emilia-inspired Peabody Terrace Children’s Center in Cambridge, where I help teachers and children realize their creative dreams. I record some of my thoughts and experiences teaching on our school's blog, Under Three Roofs.

An artist, writer, seamstress, crafteress, knitter, reader, teacher, and dreamer living and working in the Boston area, I feel at my best when I am making beautiful things. I love old-fashioned art forms - from sewing, quilting, and embroidery to bookbinding to printmaking - and the process of truly fashioning things by hand. Drawing on my experiences as a teacher of young children, as well as my own strong ties to my childhood, much of my artwork considers the processes of growing up through images of nature and twists on the fairytale and picture book genres.
