Annie's SketchbookFORT COLLINS, CO, US
Annie has always loved to sketch, doodle, scribble, and color. Her childhood was filled with creative outlets. Her mathematician Mom built fabric windsocks while her artist Aunt had her drawing Picasso-like drawings at age 6. Her grandfather, a woodworker had her sketching toys at an early age and she inherited her Dad’s doodling abilities to capture the humor of everyday life.
After an inspirational family trip to Italy after graduating high school, her love of drawing grew into a passion. As a trained interior designer, her drawings are created very much like a progressions of floorplans. The ideas are sketched on layers of trace paper until the essence and vibe of a place or experience is captured.
A proud Auntie of seven nieces and nephews, she looks to provide the inspiration she was given in her youth. Her goal through drawing is to share the fun, energetic excitement of places where she has traveled.
Maps By Annie's Sketchbook
Maybe I shouldn’t give away our little secret, but my home town of Fort Collins Colorado is a little jewel nestled at the base of the Rocky Mountains. Our vibrant downtown is a great place to wander. Fort Collins is said to be one of the inspirations for Main Street Disneyland and you can feel the magic when you are here. Little shops, awesome restaurants, and street performers provide dynamic entertainment. Minutes away you can be connected to the Poudre River or extensive bike paths.
My home away from home, the British Virgin Islands! Sunday mornings were hiking days and I had a few lucky occasions to join in on the fun. Walks in the rain or even getting caught in the bush without a machete still bring up fond memories. One small hike even brought us to a kayak spot for a little trip around the bay. With the help of our fearless hiking leader, this map was created as the group continues to hike around the island and provide me video and photo updates while being locked in Colorado. I can’t wait for our new adventures!
