This map is special to me because it's where I have lived for the past 25 years. Weehawken, NJ is on the western shore of the Hudson River. It has a homey small-town feeling, plus easy access to NYC. Perched at the top of a cliff, with red-tail hawks circling above, Weehawken has a magnificent view of the Manhattan skyline, and is known for being the site of the famous duel between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton. Its historic water tower, inspired by the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, glows red at sunset, and can be seen from my front porch. Among its many grand Victorian homes, Weehawken's public library stands out for its beautiful restoration, including stained glass windows and cozy reading turrets. People enjoy the waterfront for dining, recreation and relaxation, as well as a short commute by ferry to the city.
