"The New-England Boy's Song about Thanksgiving Day" was written by Lydia Maria Child in 1844 for a collection called "Flowers for Children, Volume 2." We know this poem by the popular name "Over the River and through the Woods." Music was written to go along with the poem and it is a common holiday song heard during Thanksgiving and the holiday season. The words were changed to say that the children were going to Grandmother's house when in fact it is Grandfather's house in the poem. Either way, it is a warm way to welcome the holiday season.
