Holyoke was founded in 1848, it was known as a paper mill town. Immigrants from Ireland were some of the first employed workers at the mills. Later the Puerto rican community came to find work. Your family will enjoy the downtown area with its canals, galleries, merry go round, children's museum and the Wistariahurst Museum. Bring your sketchbook. While you are here capture the old warehouse buildings, Nick's nest and The Cottage. After drawing check out the imported gifts from Ireland.
